ASTROLOGY IS A SCIENCE THAT STARTS & ENDS WITH FREE WILL

Astrology uses data to uncover human behavior and nature. Similar to a meteorologist predicting the weather, or a financial advisor conducting a financial forecast, Astrologers study the position and movements of the Sun, Moon, Planets and Stars to analyze patterns under the belief that these celestial bodies affect people’s lives and personalities.

You Are The Universe by Deepak Chopra, MD and Menas Kafatos, PhD, takes a deep dive into the Human Universe. The book emphasizes that we are the co-creators of reality. It highlights the current state of science, including mysteries that cannot be solved.

The authors encourage us to participate fully with mind, body and soul to help us understand who we are and how we can transform the world for the better, while reaching our greatest potential.

Blind Spot is a recommended book to read by Astro Coach Kate.

A GREAT LIFE IS BEYOND MONEY – IT’S WELLBEING EQUALITY

Research shows unhappiness – and happiness – are caused by patterns in our lives that influence how we do things, and how we think things.

Blind Spot shows where the world is suffering and where it can be improved. The book is based on research from the State of the Nation by Gallop News Services, which shows “people feel more anger, sadness, pain, worry and stress than ever before.” In fact, just 38% of Americans reported being satisfied. Just satisfied!

Through the data, Gallop found five commonalities of people who report being happy. The first is being fulfilled by their work. Followed by having little financial stress. They also live in great communities that make them feel safe, have good physical health and surround themselves with people who they can turn to for help.

Flow: The Classic Work on How to Achieve Happiness, with a new Introduction by the author by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is a recommended book for Astro Coach Kate.

FLOW STATE IS A MINDSET TECHNIQUE FOR FOCUS & CREATIVITY

Used by Navy Seals, Olympic athletes and award-winning entertainers, Flow State fuses action and consciousness.

You’ve likely heard of being “in the zone.” This term is in reference to Flow State – a mental discipline that fully immerses a person in a feeling of energized focus and joyful activity. This state of mind is based on the neuroscience research of psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. In his book, Flow, he explains how to achieve happiness and perform at your best using this state of mind.

In Flow State we can fully focus on the task at hand, void of distractions. All worries, fears, insecurities, doubts and even self-reflection, are out of mind. Through deep concentration, tasks are completed in a fraction of the time as we unlock our most creative and prolific selves. Recent studies show that Flow State can also reduce stress and anxiety.

Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear is a book recommended by Astro Coach Kate.

THE SECRET TO BUILDING GOOD HABITS IS THE LAW OF LEAST EFFORT

We all want balance, yet it seems to allude so many of us. There’s only so many hours in a day, days in a week and weeks in a year. Where does all the time go?

Atomic Habits by James Clear shows how tiny changes can lead to remarkable results by building good habits and breaking bad ones.

This makes sense to me, and the title is certainly fitting, given “atomic” means the source of immense energy or power, and a “habit” is an automatic response to a specific situation.

Habits also shape our identity by motivating our reactions, and through influences in our environment. One of Clear’s suggestions is to “walk slowly, but never backwards.”

RECOGNIZING OPPORTUNITIES IN A WORLD THAT CAN’T SEE CLEARLY

Fear can get the best of us, oftentimes distorting our perspective of what’s possible by giving obstacles the power to stand in our way.

Eyes Wide Open by Isaac Lidsky sheds light on why holding onto the “familiar” is just a subconscious coping mechanism or form of procrastination to avoid facing the “unknown.”

After losing his sight at a young age, Lidsky was afraid his hopes for the future were over. Until he saw that having true vision is only limited by our past experiences, biases and emotions.

He shows us how we can live with open hearts and minds when we silence our inner critic, and confront life’s trials with initiative, humor and grace.
